In order to engage actively with students, we created a connected system that could be accessed from a variety of entry points. By focusing on the specific angle of lowering the percieved barrier of entry, we were able to tailor our various touchpoints.
Thematically and visually, we focused in on the idea of “stepping through the door” as the first step in experiencing art. All visual elements followed that concept, from using the interior counters of the venue initials to create symbols, to using frame-like cutouts in our animation.
In particular, I spearheaded all of the physical material produced. In an increasingly digital world, we wanted to utilize the physicality of maps and tickets to create an elevated experience incoming students would remember.
Details like custom vellum envelopes and matching confetti reinforced this playful tone.
As a whole, this project helped me learn the essential nature of a unifying core concept when visuals extend over multiple different formats. I care deeply about the arts, and it was rewarding to speculate about how to enhance the experience at UW.
