Crafting the tone of this dense publication was the primary challenge, conveying the playfulness of cats and energy of the show in a static medium.
Playful copywriting was essential to balancing the density and variety of information.
Crafting a distinct narrative was key to targeting an audience of cat-loving cat-competition newbies. Along with constructing a clear type heirarchy, creating a layout that naturally guides the eye through dense information was the biggest challenge.
Iterating on my layout was an essential element.
While the subject matter is on the lighter side, the lack of projects like mine made this a surprisingly difficult and rewarding project. I was able to channel both my love for cats and data-driven journalism.
